With a Ph.D. in speech communication and two master’s degrees, one in speech communication from the University of Washington and one in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, Ron Pyle now teaches at Whitworth College in the departments of communication studies and theology.
Since coming to Whitworth College in 1988, Pyle has received “The Whitworth Teaching Excellence Award” and has been named by six graduating classes as their “Most Influential Professor.”
Pyle teaches on interpersonal relationships, communication theory, and rhetoric. He also teaches in Whitworth’s Certification for Ministry program on preaching and small group ministry.
In addition to teaching, Pyle trains college faculty and staff to serve as effective mentors to students, and serves as a communication coach for preachers and business professionals. He leads retreats and seminars about effective communication, spiritual formation, and marriage and family communication. He also does pre-marriage counseling and marriage mentoring with his wife Julie.
