Communication Alumni President Priya Frank and photojournalist David Ryder teamed up for a pop-up art exhibit at Lucid last Friday for an event called “First Friday: Art, Cocktails and Culinary Delights.” Themed drinks, specialty desserts, a photo booth, and a participatory art display in the bathroom aided the theme of love that was present in all the photographs. A portion of the proceeds went to the UW Community Peace Garden, as well as Café Racer Love.

Ryder was a CHID major and photo editor at The Daily before graduating in 2006. He then went to UW Bothell to receive his M.A. in Cultural Studies in 2011, where he met Frank. Before going to Bothell, Frank received a B.A. in Communication and American Ethnic Studies in Seattle and has had various jobs at the UW for more than a decade. She now works at the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity.

First Friday will become a monthly gathering at Lucid from 6 to 8 p.m. with live music following at 9 and Frank will curate quarterly.
