COM 597 student published in national science news digest

Brad Dickerson

Brad Dickerson, a biology graduate student at the UW who is enrolled in COM 597, was published on Real Clear Science, a daily news portal for relevant science stories from around the globe. The special topics graduate class is focusing on science communication this quarter, taught by artist-in-residence Usha McFarling. In the article, Dickerson relates first-hand accounts of childhood road trips to President Obama’s plan to create a Brain Activity Map in the next ten years.

“These early lessons taught me that simply having a map cannot tell you where to go,” Dickerson wrote. “The route you take is highly dependent on your journey.”
