Study by Dr. Manusov Selected as JOFC 2015 Article of the Year
The Journal of Family Communication has selected “When Family Talk is Difficult: Making Sense of Nonverbal Communication at the End-of-Life,” written by Professor Valerie Manusov, as its 2015 Article of the Year.
Dr. Manusov co-authored the article with Maureen Keeley, Professor & Director of Graduate Studies at Texas State University. The article examines transcripts of interviews with 55 people who participated in end-of-life conversations. According to the authors, the study “reports strong qualitative evidence that nonverbal cues can be understood as performing important communicative functions in this context.”
