Communication Students Selected for 2018 Husky 100
The UW Communication Department is proud to announce that, once again, it is well represented in this year’s Husky 100.
“Our students do amazing things, and we are fortunate to have faculty and alumni who consistently set the bar high,” said David Domke, Chair of the UW Communication Department. “The Husky 100 recognizes students who are going above and beyond to change the world. These students inspire us.”
Read below to find out more about these extraordinary students:
Bryan Nakata | B.A., Communication (Journalism)
During his Husky experience, Nakata has been involved in nearly all areas of media: corporate, public university, feature film, and sports. His work as a digital storyteller, coupled with the connections he has made while at the UW, has grown his passion for sharing the inspiration he finds from the stories of others. Along the way, Nakata focuses on underrepresented voices, and is an advocate for media diversity and representation.
Nayeli Sargent | B.A., Communication
Sargent’s years and experiences at the University of Washington have molded her into a leader and professional. Alongside the support of her mentors and family, she continues to not only motivate herself to become more empowered, but also to motive those around her, and inspire them to pursue their goals and dreams. Enhancing her education as a Husky has helped her to not only embrace who she is and where she comes from, but also to realize that she can determine the role her upbringing will play in her future.
