Faculty Request for Travel Support

Use the Faculty Request for Travel Support form to request department support for travel to conferences to present research or to participate in another capacity. Please complete the form and send it electronically to Patrick Olsen or put a hard copy of it in his mailbox. Be specific in providing information about the conference, your role in it, and the funding support you are requesting.

The Executive Committee has recommended that your first priority for conference participation will receive the most funding, while other conferences will get less.

We regularly announce deadlines for travel for various conferences, primarily to get a sense of how many people will be going and the level of funding requested. As soon as we have all of the requests for a particular conference, allocations are made by the chair.

The Graduate School has some funding available for faculty travel to international conferences. Once you know that your research has been selected for presentation at an international conference, notify the chair so that the department can apply for funding on your behalf. These awards can be up to $1,000. Funding is provided from and endowment, and is available each year until depleted. The department will usually add to that amount.

You may make your own travel arrangements and be reimbursed for appropriate expenditures. Or, you may ask the administrative staff to make flight reservations for you, charging the department budget directly.
