How Does the CWC Work?
Drop-in help:
The CWC serves students on a drop-in basis. Simply drop by
when we are open, and a mentor will be able to help you. We
usually have more than one mentor on staff. You should consider
coming to the CWC as often as you would like - it can be really
helpful to come at different stages on a project or assignment.
What can I expect?
Your session with a mentor will be an active and participatory
session. You will both be engaged in considering your project
or assignment and the concerns that you have.
Our focus is on helping students with writing and with research.
For example, we will assist you in searching for relevant material
for a research project, organizing ideas for a paper, and brainstorming
about how to do a media analysis.
In coming to the CWC, you can expect help with writing and
research. We will not proofread your paper, write it for you,
or be able to assess what your grade might be or how you could
have gotten a better grade.
What should I bring?
You should bring your assignment, your work so far - either
notes or a draft, and any documents you are using in the assignment,
such as newspaper articles, ads, or additional research. The
CWC does have a limited number of computers available for help
with web-based assignments.
