Staffers Kathy Hall and Cathy Schwartz received the international Best of Show and Distinguished Technical Communication awards from the Society for Technical Communication (STC) for the Department of Environmental Health's 1999-2001 biennial report. The award is part of STC's annual technical communication competitions program, which highlights the best examples of the art and science of technical communication. Hall is a writer-editor and Schwartz is a graphic artist. The Society for Technical Communication is a professional organization for technical writers, editors, illustrators, managers, and educators with more than 23,000 members in 153 chapters worldwide.
