Bert E. Brumett, 1963
Bert E. Brumett was a significant figure in Northwest television and radio for years before early retirement for travel and community service. He was a dedicated volunteer at Childhaven.
Eldon Coroch, 1957
Eldon Coroch was a longtime journalism and English instructor at Everett Community College. He was the first member of his family to attend and graduate from college.
Harriet Hansen, 1948
Harriet Hansen spent 25 years reporting for the Longview Daily News, sharing a Pulitzer Prize in 1981 with other members of the editorial staff for their coverage of the Mount St. Helens eruption.
Barbara Krohn, 1947
Barbara A. Krohn was the first woman publisher of the UW Daily, starting in that position in 1977 and retiring in 1991. She started her career at the UW as a drama major but quickly switched to journalism. She worked as news editor of the West Seattle Herald and the University District Herald.
She also worked as a government agency information officer, a college instructor, and communications director for the Washington Education Association.
In 1973, she started Barbara Krohn and Associates, which still publishes the annual Washington Education Directory.
Martin Bernard McGowan, Jr., 1949
Martin McGowan grew up in the Green Lake area of Seattle and attended Roosevelt High and the University of Washington. He earned his bachelor's degree in journalism after serving his country in the Air Corps during World War II. He found his lifelong profession in sales, spending more than 40 years in the electrical sign business with Epcon and Tube Art in Seattle and culminating his career in San Diego as owner of San Diego "QRS" Sign Company. One of his signs went to the University Book Store. Marty sold his business in 1990 and retired to the Palm Springs area.
Scott Patrick, 1981
Scott Patrick was Vice President of Partnership Development for the Seattle Seahawks. He worked for many years for both the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Sonics. Scott was also on the Board of Directors of the "Chris Elliot Fund," which involved brain cancer research.
Carl Siddons, 1985
Carl Siddons was a longtime employee of the University Book Store.
George Sundborg, 1934
George Sundborg died February 7, 2009, of pneumonia caused by complications from a fall. Mr. Sundborg was a longtime journalist in Washington and Alaska. He was one of the key authors of the Alaska constitution and helped create Discovery Park. Read more about Sundborg>>
