Global Music for Social Improvement
By Marcia Durazo
The Global Music Project (GMP) is a non-profit organization representing music fans, artists, events, promoters and businesses in order to use music to educate people throughout the world. Artists from different regions of the world donate music to this organization. The proceeds from music purchases go toward bettering the world. Since countries throughout the world are threatened by globalization, this organization aims to help preserve music.
GMP was founded in 2011 and believes in the power of music to connect people on a global level and help educate citizens about other cultures. At GlobalMusicProject.org, you can listen to numerous types of music for free and download songs for $1 each after listening to them.
GMP is using music as a cultural agent to better the world. Music can be a key tool for communication and understanding on a global level and can result in relationship-building processes through things as simple as sharing music from different cultures.
