Steffany is an enrolled member of the Lummi Nation. She was born and raised in Texas. She is currently working on her thesis film which explores body image with Native American women. Her interests include photography, traveling, antiquing, karaoke, reading and filmmaking.

She was invited to attend the "Educational Talent Search/Northwest Indian College Career Fair" at the Lummi reservation April 22, 2006. She spoke with students about the Native Voices documentary filmmaking program and the University of Washington, Seattle.
