Senior Lecturer Mike Henderson has been on the faculty since 1994. Prior to that he worked in journalism as an editor, columnist, critic and reporter at several newspapers, including the Seattle P-I (1972-'78, arts-entertainment editor/film critic/book critic) and the Seattle Times (1978-'80, news editor, magazine-article contributor). He teaches undergraduate skills courses, including community journalism and the Olympia Legislature-reporting internship class. He also is liaison with the Seattle Times, team-teaching with a Times columnist the Opinion Writing course every Fall Quarter. He has published more than 4,500 newspaper stories, columns, essays and reviews. Currently he is a contributing columnist for Seattle Weekly, the main alternative-journalism paper in the Northwest.
