Alex Stonehill, Artist in Residence, is a multimedia journalist whose work has been published by PBS, the Seattle Times, FRONTLINE/World, and the Seattle Weekly. He is daily editor and one of the founders of The Seattle Globalist, a nonprofit news site that covers international connections in the Pacific Northwest, and is housed in the UW Communication Department.

Alex teaches courses in Entrepreneurial Journalism and Multimedia Storytelling and organizes quarterly workshops on digital media for Communication and Journalism students. He has technical skills in digital photography and video production.

He won the 2011 SPJ Award for Online Video for the documentary short Never Going Home: Young Iraqi Refugees dream of Seattle and was a Media21 Fellow in 2009.
