The University of Washington Graduate School requires each student who is completing an M.A. or Ph.D. to fill out an exit survey questionnaire. Survey questions address a variety of topics, such as perceived program quality and post-graduation employment plans. The university compiles these data to produce summary reports, which are sent to deans, department chairs, and other university administrators. The annual reports compare the ratings received by individual academic units with the ratings given their parent college and with the university as a whole.

A Note on Expenses in the Exit Surveys

These surveys include students who did not receive assistantships for graduate study in communication. This is important to keep in mind when reading the survey data regarding debt upon graduation. When and if disaggregated financial data becomes available, we will post it on this web site, but the University does not yet have plans to provide these data.
